Global Abolition Starts With You
Through a membership to the Freedom Center, you are part of a growing network of modern-day abolitionists, following in the footsteps of the great freedom heroes like Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass and others who walked boldly before you. While the fight looks different today, you, too, can make a difference through supporting our work:
Inspiring a new generation of abolitionists by connecting historic and modern slavery and abolition through projects like our Journey to Freedom documentary shown at dozens of U.S. Embassies around the world.
Hosting exhibits that engage and inspire: Through your support, we are able to organize and premiere new national exhibits, such as And Still We Rise: Race, Culture and Visual Conversations, the largest-ever exhibition of African American quilts which narrates 400 years of history. Ongoing permanent exhibits also share the struggles for and triumphs of freeodm, including Invisible: Slavery Today , which continues to bring awareness and action on the issue of modern-day slavery.
Providing educators and students with a range of digital learning opportunities, including our innovative Digital Backpack Classroom program, which provides teens with a unique hands-on opportunity to access technology, develop critical thinking abilities, participate in team environments, and attain STEM skills by exploring the meaning of freedom.
In addition to the work your support, your membership includes benefits like unlimited admission to our museum, $2 guest discounts, and invitations to member-only events.
When will I get my new card? Typically, new members receive their cards in the mail within 30 days.
Can I visit the Freedom Center before that? Yes! Although you may not have received your new membership package in the mail, you will be entered into our system. The Guest Services staff will be happy to look you up in our database.
Who may visit on my membership? Depending on which membership level you have, the member named on the card and if applicable, their children, are eligible. If your membership level allows more than one adult, then other guests are allowed, depending on membership.
I have lost my membership card. How can I request another one and what will the cost be? If you have misplaced your membership card, we will gladly send you a new one at no cost, just contact us.
Is my membership tax-deductible? Because of the high value of member benefits, tax law does not allow memberships at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center to be tax deductible.
